Man shot dead by BCPD has a criminal history, many names

6-13-2014 Louisiana:

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - The man shot and killed by Bossier City police officers Thursday is a registered sex offender with previous convictions for armed robbery and several aliases.

Bossier City police say it was 58-year-old Larry Allan Jerrils of Walker, Mich. who had just robbed the Payless shoe store in the 2000 block of Airline just before 8 p.m. when officers arrived on the scene and tried to stop him from fleeing.

Bossier City spokesman Mark Natale says Jerrils was shot when he turned and brandished a firearm at the officers, who have also now been identified as Andrew Nichols and Kevin Wooten.

Jerrils was pronounced dead at the scene.

One eyewitness described hearing a shot fired and turning to see an officer open fire and a man fall to the pavement just outside Bass Fine Jewelry next to Arby's.

"We heard what was a gunshot, followed there by about 3 or 4 more gunshots - rapid gunshots," recalls Charlie Cavell, who was in the parking lot of a restaurant across the street when it happened. "After the first shot, I kind of leaned to my right a little bit and that's when I saw the two Bossier City police officers, you know, standing over what I can only assume was some kind of suspect."

Police investigate possible Providence homicide; man dies weeks after beating

6-15-2014 Rhode Island:

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The recent death of a 69-year-old Providence man is being investigated as a possible homicide.

Milton Lyles, who died Thursday, had been found severely beaten on the ground in 300-block of Broad Street on May 19, said Providence Police Maj. David Lapatin. Lyles was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, but never recovered.

The police are searching for several suspects, but Lapatin did not discuss any descriptions of the men. It’s unclear what led to the attack on Lyles, but Lapatin said the older man appeared to be an “innocent party.”

Lyles, who lived nearby on Pine Street, was a registered sex offender with a criminal record in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, according to police and court records.

Supporters lining up behind Alabama man charged with killing man convicted of abusing daughter

The purpose of this post is to show how many people there are in society who are willing to take the law into their own hands; a sick section of society. We need to be sad that such people live in our society and pray they never get seated on a jury in any trial.

6-11-2014 Alabama:

CULLMAN, Alabama — Supporters are lining up behind an Alabama father charged with killing the man who went to prison for molesting his daughter more than a decade ago, but a man who came face-to-face with the alleged gunman said Tuesday the shooter doesn't deserve any praise.

A Facebook site created to show support for the man had more than 950 members within hours of its creation, and donors gave more than $350 on another website to help fund his legal defense. Jason Lackey, a longtime friend of the alleged shooter, contributed $150.

"The guy was guilty of raping his little girl, and I guess he dealt with it for 12 years and it just built up," said Lackey, who has a recreational vehicle business in Cullman. "I won't say (he) had the right to go murder him, but I understand when he did."

The Associated Press doesn't identify victims of sex crimes, and it isn't naming the man charged with murder to protect his daughter's identity.

Kingman man convicted of murder in shotgun killing in rage over alleged child molestation

5-30-2014 Arizona:

A Kingman-area man faces life in prison after being convicted in the shotgun killing of a man whom the defendant mistakenly thought had molested his young daughter.

A jury on Thursday convicted George Allen Loader of first-degree murder and other charges in the 2011 killing of 51-year-old John Oppenheim, whose sawed-up body was burned in the desert.

In the courtroom, Loader directed a wan smile at his mother and shrugged after the jury returned its verdicts after deliberating for 90 minutes.

A prosecutor told jurors that Loader killed Oppenheim in a rage because he believed Oppenheim molested Loader's 3-year-old daughter.

"There was no physical evidence to indicate there was a molestation," Mohave County Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter said Friday.

Loader's defense was that Oppenheim's death was accidental, that Oppenheim grabbed the shotgun by the barrel during a struggle as the men fought.

Three people are behind bars after being charged with setting the fire. All faced a judge for the first time on Tuesday morning.

Fostoria Police and Fire Division, along with the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office and Seneca County Prosecutor's Office, determined Monday's house fire on South Poplar Street was the result of arson.
