A homeless Roanoke man who was assaulted last month died Monday, police said.
Thomas Patrick Corriveau, 62, died at a hospital from complications of the Sept. 30 attack, and the medical examiner’s office ruled his death a homicide on Tuesday, Roanoke police spokesman Scott Leamon said.
About 1 p.m. Oct. 1, Roanoke Fire-EMS responded to a report about an intoxicated person leaning over a railing at a business in the 300 block of Elm Avenue in southeast Roanoke, Leamon said. The man had injuries to his face and his side.
Responders took the man, who initially provided a false name, to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police said he was extremely intoxicated.
