Metro-East Police have identified a person of interest in the homicide investigation of a Cahokia man who was also a registered sex offender.
Investigators in St. Clair County won’t say who the person of interest is, but that they have valuable items of evidence that point to this person of interest.
The Major Case Squad is investigating the death of William Harriel Jr., 26, who was found dead Thursday night in the middle of Amelia Drive in Cahokia. Police said Harriel suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities have not indicated if Harriel knew his killer, but they do not believe Harriel was killed because he was a registered sex offender.
