Coroner identifies man killed in Loris shooting Wednesday night

11-6-2014 South Carolina:

LORIS — The body of a man found shot in Loris was identified Thursday as Dashadre Jacorey Sampson, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick.

Horry County Police found the body of the 21-year-old Myrtle Beach man Wednesday night at an abandoned area off Bennett Loop in Loris.

Horry County Police spokesman Lt. Robert Kegler confirmed the death is being investigated as a homicide. Horry County has had 25 homicides this year, according to the Coroner’s Office. Homicides in 2013 totaled 17.

Police were called to the 1000 block of Bennett Loop, where the body was found, around 5 p.m. Wednesday. Bennett Loop is off Airport Road in Loris.

Kegler said it appears the area where the victim was found is not where the shooting occurred. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday, according to Hendrick.

Police are looking for witnesses or anyone who can identify potential a potential suspect/suspects. If you have any information, you are asked to call 915-TIPS or 911.

Sampson is a registered sex offender in Horry County, convicted of two counts of solicitation of a minor in August 2014, according to the Horry County sex offender database. The victims are listed as 13- and 15-year-old girls.

In February of 2013, Sampson was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree, according to SLED records. In December 2013, Sampson was charged with several more offenses: third-degree criminal sexual conduct; contributing the delinquency of a minor; and second degree criminal sexual conduct.

When police searched his home in the Carolina Forest area in 2013, officers found a cellphone with a “selfie” photo of a topless girl, the report said. Sampson, police said, responded with an inappropriate picture. The girl told Sampson she was 15 in Facebook conversation in November 2013, the report said.

Sampson incurred two more charges — third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor; and disseminating obscene material to a person under 18 — related to a 16-year-old girl reporting that Sampson had raped her after giving her alcohol, according to SLED records.

The girl told police that between on Dec. 13 she met with Sampson after having an argument with her father and they went to Sampson’s apartment where he gave her something to drink and she became incapacitated, according to a police report.

The victim said she was unable to fight or stop Sampson, who had sex with her, the report said. The victim said when she did wake up, Sampson took her home and she then went to the hospital where police were called.

"We were told to go to that house," said Lt. Kegler.

4 suspects charged in Loris shooting

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Four suspects have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in Loris last week.

Emericka Jackson, 16, and Deterris Marquiz Nequa Bellamy, 19, have been charged with murder, and bond has not yet been set.

Michael Xavier Forti, 18, and Brittany Jean Woody, 19, have been charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the case, according to Lt. Jamie Debari with the Horry County Police Department.

Forti and Wood provided transportation and shelter to Jackson and Bellamy following the fatal shooting, according to arrest warrants.
According to jail records, bond has been set at $20,000 for Forti and Woody.

Horry County police captured Deterris Marquiz Nequa Bellamy on Tuesday in connection with the alleged murder of a a 21-year-old man earlier this month. Bellamy was caught following the arrest of Emericka Jackson, also charged with murder for the death of Dashadre Jacorey Sampson.

On Thursday, Bellamy went before a judge for a bond hearing. Bond was not set, and Bellamy will be appearing in front of a circuit court judge at a later date to be determined. SLED warrants reveal that Bellamy is also charged with murder for Sampson's death. Bellamy was originally charged only with accessory after the fact of a felony.

Jackson was taken into custody by the Horry County Police Department, according to the department's Facebook page. Jackson was located on Hwy. 319 near Mt. Ariel Church in Conway, according to police. Police say they believe Bellamy, of Loris, escaped at the time of Jackson's arrest.

A heavy police presence surrounded the area Tuesday night. Police issued a CodeRed alert warning residents of the manhunt at around 9:30 p.m.

The Horry County Police Department's Bloodhound Tracking Team was used to look for Bellamy, police said.

On Wednesday, Jackson appeared in front of a judge for the first time since being arrested. The hearing was an initial hearing in the case.

Due to the severity of the murder charge Jackson's bond was not set in magistrate court. Jackson is due in circuit court in January.

Jackson's court appearance came one week to the day since police found 21-year-old Deshadre Sampson's body at an abandoned home off Bennett Loop.

Officials originally said that Sampson was shot once, however, warrants released Thursday indicate that Sampson was shot multiple times, and died of injuries sustained in the shooting. Authorities believe someone dumped his body at the location where it was found.

Horry County Solicitor Jimmy Richardson said under state law, 16-year-old Jackson will be tried as a adult. Richardson believes Jackson will be held at the juvenile justice center in Columbia.
