6-2-2016 New Hampshire:

MANCHESTER -- Authorities released the identity of a 35-year-old man who was shot to death Wednesday afternoon behind a Spruce Street apartment building.

Hans R. Odige died from a single gunshot wound, according to an autopsy completed Thursday. His manner of death is homicide, according to New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster and Manchester Police Chief Nick Willard.

His murder remains under investigation.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeffery A. Strelzin said no one has been arrested and no description of the shooter is available.

Odige was found dead just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the back of a building at 135 Spruce St., police said.

A woman, whose name police have not released, also was shot in the same incident.

Odige was known to police as he was required to register as a sex offender after being convicted on March 30, 2005 in Hillsborough County Superior Court, Northern District, of two counts of felonious sexual assault of a person between the ages of 13 and 16, according to the New Hampshire Department of Safety, Registration of Criminal Offenders website.

That same date, he was convicted of one count of criminal mischief, three counts of criminal threatening, two counts of felonious sexual assault and three charges of simple assault.

On Aug. 25, 2005, Odige was convicted of another criminal mischief complaint. From October 2008 to May 2013, he also was convicted of not reporting his address to police, as required as a sexual offender; breach of bail conditions; simple assault, and criminal threatening. ..Source.. by DAVID LANE/UNION LEADER
