17-year-old fatally shot during home invasion, rape, robbery, Gadsden police say

4-14-15 Alabama:

Gadsden police say a 17-year-old was shot to death Monday following an apparent home invasion, rape and robbery.

Capt. Bobby Jackson said the sequence of events began about 3 a.m. Monday. Three men, at least one with a handgun, committed a home invasion robbery in the 2100 block of Norris Avenue.

The resident, a 37-year-old woman, told police three men kicked in the front door, awakening her. One of the men came into her bedroom, put a gun to her head and raped her while the other two ransacked the home.

The two men left, but the robber assaulting her began beating her in the head with the gun and demanding money. The woman told her attacker that a neighbor down the street kept all her money. The robber then forced the woman down the street to the neighbor's home on South 21st Street, the woman told police.

First degree murder charged in Essex County

8-3-2011 Virginia:

An alleged domestic dispute has led to the shooting death of a convicted sexual predator and the imprisonment of the suspected gunman.

According to Essex County Sheriff Stanley S. Clarke, On July 25 at approximately 9:40 p.m. his department responded to a call advising of a shooting at 3749 Richmond Highway in the Paul's Crossroads area of the county.

After arriving at the scene, Essex authorities discovered Richard Earl Breedon, 46, dead of a gunshot wound. At that time, the suspect, identified as Justin Hodges, 29, the next door neighbor, had already fled the scene.

According to numerous reports by neighbors and sources close to the investigation, Hodges's ex-wife, whose identity was not disclosed, had recently left her husband and moved into Breedon's home. The Hodges' children reportedly shared time at both domiciles, which were only separated by a single wall.

Hodges allegedly became irate after discovering Breedon, a registered sexual offender who was convicted of forcible sodomy and rape in Jan., 2001, had become verbally abusive.

Englewood woman accused of using baseball bat in murder of man she suspected of molesting a child

9-24-2013 Colorado:

An Englewood woman is accused of using a baseball bat to kill a man who she suspected of sexually assaulting a child.

Court records show that Forsythia Eliese Owen, 30, is accused of committing the murder on September 22.

Englewood police identified the murder victim as Denzle Rainey, 42. Officers found him in an alley between the 3600 block of S. Sherman and S. Grant Streets at 1:11 a.m. Sunday.

According to an affidavit obtained by 7NEWS, Owen confessed to officers in the Englewood Police Department's recorded interview room. She told the officers that the child, whose name is redacted from the document, said Rainey "had touched and sexually abused her."

The officers asked if Owen was responsible for Rainey's death.

"Owen stood up and said she killed him," the affidavit says. "Owen swung her hands back and forth and demonstrated how she struck Rainey over and over again because of what he did to [name redacted]."

Rainey suffered lacerations to his head and a skull fracture. Both arms, six ribs and his left hand were broken. His liver was also lacerated.

Middletown man admits shooting neighbor

8-7-2013 Indiana:

GOSHEN — A Middletown man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Orange County Court to first-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of his neighbor, a registered sex offender.

Richard Brown, 69, took the plea in Orange County Court, admitting that he shot and killed 54-year-old Arthur Twyman on Wickham Avenue the night of Feb. 6, 2012. Richard Brown was arrested three weeks later and charged with murder.

In exchange for the manslaughter plea negotiated by Brown's lawyer, Joseph Brown (no relation), and Senior Assistant District Attorney Maryellen Albanese, Brown will get 15 years in prison and four years of post-release supervision by parole.

Richard Brown's wife watched from the courtroom gallery, accompanied by a relative. They have attended each court date.

Twyman's history as a convicted rapist and a registered sex offender didn't factor into his death. There had been tensions between the neighbors before the shooting, officials said at the time.

As he took his guilty plea, Richard Brown initially said he was trying to stop Twyman's dog from killing him. Then, after Judge Nicholas De Rosa moved to cancel the plea and set a trial date, Richard Brown acknowledged that he intended to seriously harm Twyman.

The defendant fired eight rounds from his .22-caliber Marlin rifle, hitting Twyman four times, Albanese told De Rosa.

"And when you did this, your intent was to cause serious physical injury?" De Rosa inquired.

"Yes," Richard Brown answered.

"And your conduct caused his death?"

"Yes."

Mrs. Brown declined to comment on the case.

Richard Brown remains in Orange County Jail, held in lieu of $250,000 bail or $500,000 bond. He'll be sentenced on Oct. 2. ..Source.. by Heather Yakin

Lealman man accused of killing mobile home park neighbor

4-14-2013 Florida:

A 60-year-old ex-convict is accused of fatally stabbing his 75-year-old neighbor, a registered sex offender, in a Lealman mobile home park.

Sylvester Johnson was arrested Saturday night on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the death of William David Casey.

Casey's body was found in his home Thursday morning by a neighbor who had come to bring him food.

Johnson and Casey knew each other because both lived in the Palace Mobile Home Park, 2500 54th Ave. N. Investigators say Johnson went into Casey's mobile home sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday and stabbed him several times in the upper body.

Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives say they linked Johnson to the crime through fingerprints found at the scene. They say the motive may have been robbery, as Casey's wallet was stolen. No weapon has been found, and the investigation continues.

Florida's sex offender database shows that more than 100 men registered as sex offenders and sexual predators live in the mobile home park. It's on the western side of Interstate 275 at the 54th Avenue N exit, along Haines Road.

Johnson is not a sex offender, but the state considers him a career criminal. According to Florida Department of Corrections records, he has been in prison five times since 1984 for burglary, drugs, sexual battery and dealing in stolen property convictions.

He got out of prison in December after serving time on a cocaine charge, and was due to be on probation until 2020. ... ... ...

Court records show Casey pleaded guilty to the charges March 19. He was sentenced to two years of community control, followed by three years of probation.

On April 11, he registered as a sex offender at the Palace Mobile Home Park. ...Source... by Mike Brassfield
