Omaha man is shot, killed as officers try to serve warrant at Lincoln motel

3-16-2015 Nebraska:

A law enforcement officer killed an Omaha man Thursday while trying to serve an arrest warrant in Lincoln.

Tyson Hubbard, 34, was shot about 10:45 a.m. Thursday as he resisted arrest and struggled with officers, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Metro Area Fugitive Task Force tried to arrest Hubbard at a Motel 6, 6501 N. 28th St., on a warrant for second-degree assault, a felony.

Hubbard left the motel and was confronted by officers as he got into a vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office said. He struggled, resisted arrest and was shot.

Hubbard died shortly afterward at Bryan West Hospital.

No officers were injured.

Representatives of three agencies were at the scene: U.S. Marshals, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and the Lincoln Police Department.

Officials did not release the identity of the officer who fired the shots and did not specify to which agency the officer belonged. ..Source.. by Alia Conley
